The video editing industry had a problem: there was no defined entry point to becoming a professional. Anyone could call themselves an editor, which meant clients had no reliable way to distinguish skilled professionals from hobbyists with a laptop. The result was frustrating for everyone.
In 2023, we set out to change that. We founded Mono Institute with a single goal — to create a structured, internationally recognised standard for professional video editors. A standard that tells clients: this person is trained, certified, and ready to deliver.
Today, Mono Institute is a London-based online video editing academy offering a professional 7-module curriculum to students worldwide. We combine self-paced learning with daily live instruction, real client project simulations, and a direct pathway to earning in USD after graduation.
The idea was born out of a clear industry failure. No professional standard existed for video editors. Clients couldn’t reliably hire, and talented editors couldn’t prove their worth. We decided to build the benchmark the industry was missing.
